I finally found the Fatimid cemetery south of Aswan. These thousands of graves are mostly modern, though the brick chapels date back to the 9th century. In the late 19th century a massive storm damaged most of the graves. To save them, their markers were moved to Cairo for restoration, but nobody bothered to note where they belonged in the graveyard and they were lost forever. Win one for planning...
