Islamic Cairo has a small section that has been polished for the tourists, but only 200 meters away, on the other side of the Sayyidna-al-Hussein mosque, there is a large quarter of extreme poverty strangely absent from the guide book. Here these sheep marked the beginning of the poor quarter.
